Bloomberg Línea has unveiled its roster of the 100 Innovative People in Latin America for 2023, featuring 45 standout personalities from Brazil across diverse sectors such as finance, technology, industry, advertising, science, sustainability, and diversity.

One of the notable figures on the list is Mayana Zatz, the general coordinator of Genome USP and a Genetics professor at the USP Biosciences Institute.

"Geneticist Mayana Zatz is one of the most renowned researchers in the country. Her work focuses on research into the human genome and stem cells. Born in Tel-Aviv, she became a naturalized Brazilian and made a career as a professor and researcher at the University of São Paulo. In 1995, she was one of the pioneers to locate one of the genes linked to a type of muscular dystrophy", said Bloomberg Línea.

The selection showcases individuals who have challenged norms and pursued innovative solutions that significantly contribute to the advancement of business and scientific fields, thereby fostering Brazil's development and bolstering its global presence.

Among the 45 Brazilian honorees are prominent figures such as Roberto Campos Neto, the president of the Central Bank, Cecilia Bottai Mondino, the vice president of marketing at Heineken Brasil, and Mariana Vasconcelos, the CEO and co-founder of Agrosmart, a pioneering startup in the Brazilian agribusiness sector.

In addition to Brazil, the selection covers 18 countries in the region, "highlighting individuals who have demonstrated the ability to overcome adverse circumstances and established conventions. In this first edition, the selection focused especially on the largest economies in Latin America: Brazil, Mexico, Argentina, Chile and Colombia", said Bloomberg Línea.

According to the company, the selection process was based on "identifying proven and outstanding cases of success in innovation, whether through the launch of innovative business models or the creation of cutting-edge buildings for global architecture. The list also reflects the commitment of these leaders with the development and global projection of their countries, as well as the impact of their work to create jobs in the digital era and to inspire new generations to break the mold."
